Who are your Connexions Team?

Joanne Holt, District Manger

joined the careers service (as was) in1989. Joanne has worked across a number of Sheffield schools, 6th forms, colleges. Qualified in careers guidance, NVQ assessor and psychometric testing Joanne is the one who will cancel meetings to step in at the last minute should any of our team fall ill!

Karen Allan, Team Leader

Karen has worked for the organisation since 1984 in a variety of practitioner and project management roles. Qualified in careers guidance, training and development and psychometric testing Karen works in Bradfield school, represents Connexions at Learning for Life groups, local employer liaison as well as managing the team’s resources and delivery plans.

Marilyn Moss, Personal Adviser (careers)

Marilyn has worked for us since 1978. Marilyn (a big Wolves fan, regularly seen on the terraces) is qualified in careers guidance and has worked in a number of institutions over the years. Currently working in Hillsborough College and of course, Stocksbridge High School, where she has been advising young people for as long as we all can remember.

Helen Boberek, Personal Adviser (careers and personal support)

Helen currently working in Bradfield School. Helen joined us in 1985 and has done a number of jobs before qualifying as both careers and personal adviser in 2001. Helen set up the Stocksbridge Youth Club drop-in service which continues to be a well used resource for local young people every Wednesday lunchtime.

Annie Fonseca, Personal Adviser (careers)

Annie joined us in 1993. Qualified in careers guidance and has worked in a variety of schools and college centres. Annie currently co-ordinates our work in Hillsborough College and in Wisewood School. Annie is directing our efforts to help young people in the district with learning difficulties and disabilities to gain employment/training.

Philippa Haddrill

Philippa qualified in careers guidance, joined us in 2001. Philippa has worked in schools, college and 6th forms in Sheffield. She currently works in Hillsborough College and Myers Grove School where she has been trialing the new online common application system for school leavers.

Amy Hunter, Personal adviser (careers)

Amy is our most recent starter having just qualified from the Nottingham QCG course. She will be working in Hillsborough College, Wisewood and Myers Grove School from September. Life before Sheffield Futures included a degree in English and History at Humberside Univeristy, followed by 8 years in the world of marketing.

Personal Adviser Profile

Jan Dunn and John Anderson

Both joined us in 2002 at the start of ‘Connexions’. Both experienced in other professions before qualifying as personal advisers. Jan came from 25 years of secondary school teaching to help our young people experiencing difficulties in their personal or school lives. Jan currently works in Myers Grove School, Hillsborough College and with our unemployed clients.

John

John, qualified in youth and community work and with a Diploma in Counselling, currently helps young people through his work in Wisewood and Stocksbridge High Schools as well as unemployed clients.

All the team hold professional qualifications to level 4 and total 122 years of experience between them!
